Aurecon is a global engineering consulting firm employing 120 staff in their Wellington office. Freear Philip Relocations recently relocated the Aurecon office from Customhouse Quay to Sparc Central on Willis St.

Site access from the building they were vacating, the Old BNZ Bank Building on Customhouse Quay, was particularly challenging. At ground level the building accommodates many retail outlets and cafes that remained open after normal business hours and during weekends. Freear Philip planned the relocation to ensure minimal disruption to these retail tenants.

A strict operational program and timetable was established in conjunction with Aurecon, the property manager and Freear Philip to ensure a smooth transition of furniture and personal effects from the building.

Aurecon was conscious of minimisation and had a particular concern regarding their surplus office furniture and equipment. They also required their vacated floors to be returned to their original state.

Freear Philip arranged to recycle much of the surplus items, including the dismantling of screens and furniture to obtain metal components for easier recycling.

The project was completed on time with little disruption to other users of the building and with efficient and effective recycling of surplus items.
