| The
one that didn't get
away!! No,
this isn't one of
my fanciful fishing
stories. This actually
happened (and we got
the pictures to prove
it!!)
Recently we were
approached by the
museum of New Zealand
to relocate some of
their Fish Specimens.
This job was made
interesting by the
fact that these fish
were of such a HUGE
size ( as you can
see by the photos
) and the rather fragrant
preserving solutions
that the monsters
were residing in…

The relocation involved
draining the preserving
fluid, then lifting
the fish out of tanks
( we had to use a
fork truck to lift
some of the bigger
fish) and placing
them on our trucks
for transportation
to their new home.

Once they were at
the new site, we had
to replace the fish
in their new tanks
and replace the preserving
fluid, which involved
members of the crew
actually getting into
the tanks with the
fish while we poured
the highly pungent
fluid in around them.

Apparently, when
one of our crew returned
home at the end of
the day, He was greeted
at the door by his
wife who sternly advised
him " CLOTHES
OFF, INTO THE SHOWER,
YOU WASH YOUR CLOTHES…..AND
DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH
THE KIDS !!!!

It is always gratifying
to see a job that
seems to be full of
new and interesting
challenges turn into
the success story
that this has become.
It is being successful
with the more complex
or unusual relocations,
that sets FREEAR PHILIP
apart from the rest… |
